Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using LokaLens (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and LokaLens (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date above or, where appropriate, by email.

2. Description of Service

LokaLens is an AI-powered travel itinerary platform that generates personalised travel recommendations using your stated preferences, location inputs, and interaction history. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use.

LokaLens is not a travel agency. Itineraries, venue descriptions, and recommendations generated by the Service are informational only and do not constitute professional travel advice. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of any information before making travel arrangements or bookings.

3. User Accounts

You must sign in with a valid Google account to access personalised features. By signing in, you authorise LokaLens to receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google as part of the OAuth flow.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must not share your account credentials with others or use another person's account without permission. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to update it as necessary.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

4. Subscription and Billing

LokaLens offers a free tier and two paid subscription tiers: Traveler ($9.00 USD/month) and Wanderer ($19.00 USD/month). Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.

All billing is processed by Stripe, Inc. By subscribing, you authorise Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. Your payment information is stored and managed by Stripe — LokaLens does not store full card details.

Refund policy: You may request a refund within 7 days of a charge if you have not substantially used the paid features during that billing period. Refunds are pro-rated based on usage. To request a refund, contact us at the address below. Refunds are not available for partial months after the 7-day window.

We reserve the right to modify pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes will not affect the current billing period.

5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Itineraries, venue descriptions, and narrative content on LokaLens are generated by large language models, including Claude (by Anthropic, PBC). AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, outdated information, or “hallucinations” — plausible-sounding but factually incorrect details.

You must independently verify all venue details, opening hours, prices, and accessibility information before visiting or booking. LokaLens is not liable for losses arising from inaccurate AI-generated content.

Venue data is sourced from Foursquare and Google Places APIs and may not reflect current conditions. LokaLens does not endorse any specific venue, business, or service.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service.
  • Use the Service in a way that exceeds rate limits or circumvents tier restrictions.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying AI models or recommendation logic.
  • Use the Service to generate content that is harmful, deceptive, or illegal.
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent free-tier limits.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit outputs from the Service without our written permission.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service.

Violation of these rules may result in immediate account termination without refund.

7. Intellectual Property

The LokaLens platform, including its software, design, branding, and proprietary recommendation pipeline, is owned by LokaLens and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the platform without our express written consent.

You retain ownership of personal data you provide (such as your quiz responses and travel preferences). By using the Service, you grant LokaLens a limited licence to process that data solely to provide and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Itinerary outputs generated for you are provided for your personal use. We do not claim copyright over the specific itinerary content generated for your account.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with several third-party providers. Your use of the Service is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of:

  • Google — OAuth sign-in and Places API (maps.google.com/intl/en/policies)
  • Stripe — Payment processing (stripe.com/legal)
  • Mapbox — Map tiles and geocoding (mapbox.com/legal)
  • Foursquare — Venue data (foursquare.com/legal/terms)
  • Anthropic — AI generation (anthropic.com/legal)

We are not responsible for the practices or content of these third-party services.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, LOKALENS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT WILL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO LOKALENS IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. If we terminate your account without cause, we will provide a pro-rated refund for any unused portion of a paid subscription.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction for claims relating to intellectual property or unauthorised access.

If you are located in the European Union, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

12. Miscellaneous

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and LokaLens regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that right.
